 Khulu was one of Nelson Mandala’s many nicknames, meaning “Great One.”  The winter of his life was not lost on Nelson Mandela for he knew how to embrace the winter and when the spring came he was able to walk in it with strength, dignity and wisdom,

Khulu was one of Nelson Mandala’s many nicknames, meaning “Great One.”
The winter of his life was not lost on Nelson Mandela for he knew how to embrace the winter and when the spring came he was able to walk in it with strength, dignity and wisdom, that was gained in his solitude and persecution. His outer shell may have been beaten and broken, but his roots, his inner being, the heart of the man was strengthened and ready for the warmth and light of the sun to call him into the season of spring.
