Fallen

We will remember them, for they are ours and we were theirs.

Many of us know what it is like to mourn over the loss of a fallen poppy.

These loved ones may have fallen in combat for a noble cause,

or they may have fallen to a battle with a cruel illness – such was my own loss, or simply fallen to the ravages of time.

They are not with us anymore and yet their memory is all around us

and they will remain in our hearts to the end.
